Our Story

Since its inception in 1995, Executive Homes has had a passion to build custom homes throughout the Northern Indianapolis area. With Executive Homes, our priority is to understand our client’s specific home criteria and to transform those ideas into their dream home.  Whether you dream of living in one of Indy’s most prestigious communities, in a secluded get away on your own private acreage, or renovating your existing home, Executive Homes is committed to building your home that is as unique as you are.

Our Team

Peter J. Gray – President

Since 1995, Pete has grown Executive Homes into one of Indianapolis’s most respected and award-winning custom home builders. With a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from Michigan State University, Pete boasts decades of home building and remodeling experience and is actively involved in the daily direction of Executive Homes. In addition to running a successful business, Pete is an active member of the Builder’s Association of Greater Indianapolis, and has served on the Board of Directors for 16 years, one of which as the Association’s President. Outside of work, Pete enjoys time with his family, relaxing at the lake and running diesel through one of his tractors.

Andrew Armstrong – Estimator

With over 22 years of construction experience, Andy holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. When it comes to cost, Andy has a keen sense and has become the Executive Homes expert. Before transitioning to project management, and ultimately purchasing and estimating, Andy worked on framing and concrete crews. This practical, hands-on experience provides a versatile perspective to construction cost management that is integral to helping clients achieve their budgetary goals. When not working, Andy enjoys traveling and reading.

Sandra Dunbar – Controller

A graduate of Purdue University, Sandy majored in accounting and has built a 30-year career in financial management. Her experiences include serving as an audit manager for a Big Four accounting firm, and as Vice President and Controller for a $450 million, Ind.-based nonprofit organization. She is charged with managing banking relationships, real estate closings, and financial reporting. For clients, Sandy is the “go to” for all financial questions.

Sandy is married with two adult sons. She is active in Kaleo, a ministry serving women and children in Indianapolis.

Daniel Powell – Service Manager

Often referred to as “Punch Out” Dan, he is responsible for tying up the loose ends to bring the home together. When it comes to making a house shine, Dan has perfectly mastered the details. It’s this attention and dedication to detail that helps perfect the home and hand the keys over to the home owner.

Patrick Gray – Field Superintendent

A recent graduate of Purdue University, Patrick gained his bachelor’s degree in building construction management with a double major in residential construction. He is our dedicated field superintendent that oversees the day-to-day operations on the job site. Patrick managed the construction of homes in multiple communities before and during his time at Purdue.

Donald L. Whetro – Chief Visioneer

Don has worked in the homebuilding and remodeling business for over 18 years and has held positions in estimating, purchasing, and sales management. Additionally, Don has been an owner and managing partner for several major builders. For Executive Homes, Don is responsible for driving the creative engine. He works tirelessly with clients to provide unparalleled service and oversight to every family in all pre-construction phases, including site selection, architecture, and interior design. Don is married with four children, is a Kamado grill hobbyist, and fan of his children’s activities.

Lacey – Official Mascot

Full of energy and bringing smiles to employees, Lacey is a Cane Corso (kha-neh kor-so), or Italian Mastiff. The most recent addition to the Executive Homes staff, Lacey enjoys laying on the office floor, begging for cookies, and accompanying and supervising the job sites.
